Louis Lavigueur named to the Ordre national du Québec

We are thrilled to share with CAMMAC members the news that longtime CAMMAC teacher and co-director Louis Lavigueur has been named Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec, one of the province’s highest honours. He will be receiving his insignia from Premier Jean Charest in a ceremony at the National Assembly on June 15. Louis, who recently celebrated his 25 years as conductor of the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montréal and who conducts several choirs, in addition to his numerous teaching assignments over the years, has influenced many young musicians notably through his work with the orchestra, as well as at l’école Pierre-Laporte and the Conservatoire de musique du Québec. Louis will be principal conductor once again in week 6 (choral music) at the Lake MacDonald Music Centre this summer. Congratulations, Louis!
